The finest natch so far as com - petition went in t'"e amateur cham pionship was between Dr. Ross and H. E. Wright This was fought all the way. T<;e pr fessional wore not placing so well as in the previous day, E. S. Docglas particularly, who was d iving wildly, several being pnlled out of bounds.
