Smith at tMe eleventh green and his total score for the roun* was 73, only two more than E. S Douglas's reco'd on Monday. Smith was only ten more, bnt har 'ly got a chance at the start. The finest natch so far as com - petition went in t'"e amateur cham pionship was between Dr. Ross and H. E. Wright This was fought all the way. T<;e pr fessional wore not placing so well as in the previous day, E. S. Docglas particularly, who was d iving wildly, several being pnlled out of bounds.
