THE TECHNICAL SCHOOL ANNUAL ELOCUTIONAL COMPETITION.
These competitions inaugurated by Mr F. D. Opie, director of the Tecbnieal School, some six years ago have grown wonderfully in regard to interest and entries. Each year sees a substantial inorease in the number of classes to be competed for, and in the number of entrants. Tnis speaks well for the popular interest, not only from a competitor's point of view but also from that of the public. As an educational factor in the life of our young folks, the advantages of the competitions cannot be too highly commended for anything tnat will increase an interest in the study of the English language is worst y of every ones commendation ano support. The competitions commence* on Wednesday next in trie Opera House, and continue every afternoon and evening for three davs. The judge, Mr Dt> Spons?, is a Dune in gentleman highly spoken of among el ccutionists. We commend this popular entertainment to our readers, who will get a most varied programme each evening and gooi value for tbeir money.
