IMPORTATIONS FROM BRITAIN. ; . —~*TA consignment of valuable stock arrived from England by the Rnuper»u on T- ur«day. Of particular interest to breeders of thoroughbred horses was Demosthenes, tne seven-year-old stallion purchase ■« in England by Mr G. P. Donnelly for £1260. Wit'i him was the filly Orange Pippin, the property of Mr J. B. Reid, of Elderslie. Besides t. e two above-mentioned there were a Chydesdale and a poDy stallion brought oat by M* A. Pillers, an English, horse breeder. Both these animals are said to be exceedingly well bred, t'ie older horse, Amagour, whic ; is consigned to Mr Alex Donald, of Putiki, being by Denute Blend —Maggie of Ballington
The pony stallion, White Winv, is understood to be the first polo pony stallion ever imported into the Dominion.
By the same boat there *were also tweLty-five sheep, comprising Lincclns, Soutfdowns, and Kimney Marsii. These animals were selected by Mr W. Perry, of "Penrose," Masterton, from the lea ing studs in Eugland They are consigned to Messrs Levin an' C»., and will be distributed under the following Wairarapa ownerships —Messrs A Matthews, D. McGregor, W. H. Booth, W. Perry, J. Strang, and H B Stackey.
