TO UNSEAT A MAYOR.
TIMARU PETITION. By Telegraph—Press Association. Timarn, Last Night. A Magisterial enquiry has been petitioned for and is to be held on May 26 into the validity of the Mayoral election. Tne petitioners ssay:— (1) There were only 28 votes between Mr Angland at the top and Mr Hawkey, who came next, and 43 votes were stated to be informal. They assert that some were not really informal, and should have been allowed. (2) That some persons were improperly refused papers. (;3) And that improper influence was used at certain booths.
