FOOTBALL.
TEAMS AMALGAMATE. A meeting was held on Tuesday •vening to organise a combined junior team between the Western and Oriental teams. Mr Charles presided, and there was a good attendance, including a number of •enior players. It was decided to approve of the amalgamation of the two junior teams, and a committee was appointed, consisting of Messrs Rush, Carruthers, and Sheerin, to select teams for next Saturday's games. The team will te called the Western team, and the colours will be all black. Subscriptions will be paid as usual to the club of which the player is a member. When players are required to fill vacancies in a senior team they may only be taken from the club to which the senior team belongs. THE MAORI TOUR. A CALIFORNIAN PROJECT. (PreM Association.—By Telegraph Wellington, Last Night. A a meeting of the Management Committee of the N. Z. Rugby Union to-night a letter was received from the New South Wales Union concerning the tour of the proposed Maori team explaining the proposed itinerary and the terms. The Maoris will lave Auckland on June 2, and play matches in New South Wales and Queensland. It was decided to forward a letter to Mr W. Parata and inform the New South Wales Union that any profit accruing must be handed to the New Zealand Union to be disposed of at their discretion. The Californian University wrote asking for a New Zealand team to visit California this year. Mr C F. Cameron, of California, interviewed the Union regarding this matter, but eventually it was decided to inform the Univeristy that the N.Z. Union could deal jnly with the Californian Union.
Mr Cameron, who leaves here on Friday, agreed to see the members of the Californian Union on his return, and get an official offer made to the N.Z. Union.
