The last few days have added to the list of candidates for municipal honours citizens of the type the community will be pleased to see coming forward. In another column we give the list of those who have already declared themselves. It is also quite probable others may yet come forward. The list offers a wide selection. Five of the old council a'e sanding -we regret that long-service Cr. Stubbs is not amongst them—and ten new candidates have presented themselves. Nine vacancies require to be filled. The elect o:"', therefore, promises to be interesting with good competition. Most of those standing are gentlemen well-known to the community, some for their public services, some for their business and professional capacities, some for their idiosyncracies Labour has put a single candidate forward, a citizen who is held in g;od respect, and we feel sure that large body of the community will be cordially supported in its de=ire to have a direct representation upon the Council. Altogether the electors will have a wide selection before them.
