A quiet wedding took place at Dannevirke yesterday, when Mis* Olive Black, eldest daughter of Sergeant Black, of Dannevirke, wa» united to Mr S. Milne, of Wanganui, son ox the late Mr Milne, Belfast.

Father Long leaves Dannevirke today for Pahiatua to act as parish priest there and at Woodville during the absence in the Old Country of Father Tom McKenna. Father Herring of Wellington, will take the services at Dannevirke next Sunday, but the name of the resident priest who will succeed Father Long is at present unknown.

It is "probable that the Hon. James Allen will leave for New York by the Caronia on 19th April, in which case the party, after seeing something of the United States and of Canada (where Mr Allen is to have some important conference* with Canadian statesmen), will b» able to catch the Makura at Vancouver on 14th May. Mr and Mrs and Miss Allen have been spending a couple of days at Oxford as th« guests of Dr. Spooner, Warden of New College. During their stay they were the guests at luncheon at Merton of the New Zealand Rhode* scholars in residence, and were also entertained by the Raleigh Club, an organisation recently formed to encourage the study of Empire problems. While in London, Mr Allen lunched with Mr Grwynne, editor of the Morning Post, and th« party had also accepted an inritatio* to spend a week-end with Lord Roberts.
