AUSTRALIA AND MONEY.
WHAT SHE COULD DO.
Prees A sen—By Telegraph—Copyright London, March 27.
Hon. A. Kirkpatrick (AgentGeneral) gave a luncheon to Hon. A. H. Peake (Premier of South Australia), among those present being Hon. L. Harcourt, Sir G. Reid, Hon. W. A. Watt (Premier of Victoria), Hon. T. Mackenzie, Hon. O'Loughlin, Hon. W. A. Holman, and prominent South Australians. • Mr Peake said British capital was essential if works of development were to be pushed forward. Australians sometimes wondered at seeing foreign countries preferred by capitalists before the" Dominion?, who were never a day benind with their interest and repayment of capital. If British financiers assisted irrigation, railways, and other works, millions of acres would be opened for emigrants from the congested areas in the Motherland.
