SHEARERS CONFER.

rmut. Association.—By Telegraph. Wellington, Last Night. The following official report is supplied of the annual confereuce of the New Zealand Shearers' and Woolshed Employees' Association of Workers, which opened on Tuesday: The following delegates were present: Messrs A. McLeod, R. Mcßae and 0. Grayndler (Wellington); Mr J. K. Moran (Gisborne); Mr W. McLennan (Marlborough); Messrs C. Boome, O. R. Johnston and C. J. Kerr (Canterbury); Messrs J. Townsend and J. Mee (Otago); the president (Mr A. J. King); and general secretary (Mr M. Laracy). It was resolved that votes of condolence be sent to the relatives and friends of the late Mr White, late general secretary of the A.W.T.U., and the late Messrs Abbott, Rhind, and J. Atkinson. A vote of sympathy was passed to the relatives of Mr H. Hawkins on his dangerous illness".

Report of general secretaiy and balance sheet were read and adopted. Mr A. J. Kiug (retiring President) was elected vice-president for the ensuing year. Mr J. Cooper was in-dalled as new president, and he irty votes of thanks and appreciation were carried by acclamation to the retiring President.

The following telegram was sent away to Mr F. H. Labatt, secretary of the New Zealand Slieepowners' Federation, Christchurch (signed by the President and general secretary): —"Will your Federation agree to confer with the Shearers' Association's representatives in reference to the general conditions and rates of pav for shearing for a further term?" It was agreed that the next conference should be held in the first week in May, 1914.

Notice of motion was given to move the sett ing up of a deputation to wait upon the Minister of Labour asking for an amendment of the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act to allow of one union being registered covering all those working in the shearing sheds of the Dominion.
