TRAMS v. MOTOR BUS.
To the Editor. Sir,—l don't as a rule reply to any anonymous correspondence, but as a letter signed by "a ratepayer" asks a civil and sensible question I will give an answer. I am strongly in favour of the Municipality running a Motor Bus service (in preference to a private owned company), and in the event of the tram scheme being thrown out (as it deserves to be) and my being elected to the Council, I will use my best endeavours to secure an up-to-date motor 'bus service owned and controlled by the town. In fact there is no chance of any private company entering the field if the borough took it up. I am of the opinion that an efficient method of locomotion is highly desirable for this town and I am only opposing the tram scheme because it is neither ?up-to-date nor efficient, and will only serve onetenth of the borough at a cost that is beyond all reason.—l am, etc., M. A. ELIOTT.
