ANNUAL GATHERING.
Threatening weather as doubtless responsible for the smull attendance at Palmerston Sports Ground yesterday afternoon in connection with the above annual gathering. The entries, considering that some very substantial trophies were ottered as prizes, fell far short of what was anticipated by tne committee. A few athletes came through from Feilding, the remainder being entirely local. The programme was attractively arranged and the general management of the gathering highly commendable, events being despatched expeditiously. The 440 yards, won by H. Larson, was a well contested and closely finished event. . . In the 880 yards, D. Park scartr had everything his own way won easily. . The school children were li supplied with sweets for wr were obliged to scramble causing considerable amusement. A band conducted b.v B6rr y. man added to the er of tlie gathering which Wf # «vell worthy of better patronage.
