MR DUTHIE'S EVIDENCE. DISCREDITS IDLE REPETITIONS (Pres« Association.—By Telegraph. Wellington, Yesterday. John Dnthie gave evidence before the Trade Commission to-day in reference to statements made bv Mr Mabin regarding New Zealand's financial position. , Mr Mabin did not, Mr Dnthie said, adequately represent the true position of New Zealand. It stood only twenty years ago a savage conn ty, and it was now well roaded hac railways from end to end, high class shipping accommodation, and all re quirements of a civilised communitv He showed that the indebtedness oj the Dominion was set off by valuabli assets; and the money lent was wel secured and was being emoloved i] the genuine development of tin country.
