HOSPITAL BOARD.

A meeting of the Palmerston Hospital Board was held yesterday and attended by Messrs J. G. "Wilson (chairman), Bryant, Fowler, Kendall, Howie, Capt. Hewitt, Hornblow, Vincent, Pearce, Voss, and Mowlem. The Board accepted tenders from Messrs Jorgensen and Wesche for repairs to the Men's Whare at Awapuni at£74, and repairs to the Alexandra Ward of the Hospital at £42. The Board passed a vote of thanks to Mr J. A. Nash (Mayor) for

Christmas dinners supplied to necessitous persons in Palmerston, Messrs Haydon Bros for rations to recipients of charitable aid and to Mr C. Dahl for donation. The relieving officer supplied a list of fourteen families to whom he distributed the Mayor's dinners. The Board passed the following resolution That the Secretary be instructed to request payment of the levy of 2s 6d in the £IOOO capital value from the contributing authorities for the purpose of building our Old People's Home, payment to be made on or before February 28, 1913. There are 56 patients in the Palmerston Hospital now, the slackness usually apparent during holidays being now at an end.
