A STRONG MOVEMENT

The British Committee for the Celebration of the Centennary of Peace among English-Speaking Nations, formed at the Mansion House, has raised £(>0,000. The preliminary proposals include a monument to George Washington at Westminster Abbey, the purchase of Sulgrave Manor, his ancestral home.
Mr Asquith, Sir Edward Grey, and Col. Roosevelt wrote in support. The late Mr Whitelaw Reid had written on Dec. 6th hoping to attend, and adding that the movement could not be more opportune and helpful to the peace of the world. Earl Grey and Lords Emmot and Weardale, thv Burgomaster of Ghent, where the treaty of 1814 was signed, were present.
