Hon. S. Buxton states the approximate cost of the Titanic enquiry in England will be £20,031.
With few exceptions the whole Eastern American press denounce the refusal to submit the Panama trouble to arbitration. It is still doubtful whether the provincial element in the Senate, which outnumbers the statesmen, will consent to arbitration. The Ottawa Free Press states that Mr Borden will probably modify his naval programme in the direction of adopting apart of Sir Wilfrid Lauriers' definite fleet unit policy. Owing to grounding, the Tasmanic will be docked at Durban. Repairs will take a month. Running at Johannesburg, Walker beat Postle ovor 100 yards by two yards, in 9 2-5 seconds. Sergeant Wolfenling, of the headquarters staff at Thorn, Germany, was arrested for supplying important information to Russia. He was sentenced to 15 years' imprisonment, and fined £750 for high treason, while £3750 which he received from Russia was confiscated.
