RAILWAY STRIKE.
SIX THOUSAND MEN OUT. NEWCASTLE SHIPS IDLE. Press Asisn—By Telegraph—Copyright Received 12.25 a.m. London, Yesterday. Six thousand railwaymen have struck. Eight vessels are waiting in the Tyne. The majority are unable to obtain cargoes. Meetings of North Eastern Railway employees of Stockton, Sunderland, and York resolved to defer their decision to strike. Meetings at Blyth, Hedhani, and Hartlepool supported the strike. The manager has offered to reinstate Knox at the earliest moment consistent with the safety of the public. The company is issuing summonses for damages against men leaving work without notice.
