ENTERTAINMENTS.
THE NORWOODS We are infonred that to-morrow afternoon commencing from the Post Office at 4 p.m. Prof. Norwood " will perform a wild blind'cld nypnotic drive" through the town, and to morrow night the Norwoods and Von Arx combined shows will commence a two nights season at the Opera House. The Wairarapa Age (Masterton) says : A large crowd attended at the Town Hall last evening. The part of the en tainment which rivetted the attention of the audience, and at the same time caused the greatest amusement, was the hypnotic seance in which the Professor operated on a number of residents in sucb a manner to call torth ,the most uproarious laughter. . They were given j suggestions of various kinds whilst in a hydnotic condition, and their actions.conj tortious and expressions simply defy description. It is an extremely difficult thing for anyone to laugh heartily at a given cue, but when given a suggestion that they were being tickled each and every one of those hypnotised last evening rocked and rolled about in a fit of the hearlio t and most convincing laughter. In Wellington Professor Norwood set a lady to play a piano in a shop window for 8 luurs. Thousands of people gathered to witness it and the police were compelled to take action owing to the obstruction of traffic, Box plans are at Andrew Miller's. Pictures and Vaudeville. AT THE OPERA HOUSE. A naw departure is to ba made at ttse Opera Hons? to-uiglit in connection with the Picture Enterprise Co., when besides an entirely new series of cinematograph stars there will be a vaudeville entertainment with many novel and interesting' features. The vaudeville turns include Bonita Krcsado's troupe of performing d< gs, the Carlos trio of wire walkers, and Stanley Williams, hilled as th- champion globe runner. In view of this„big double attraction there will no doubt be a bit? attendance at the Opp.ra House, where the pictures have the reputation cf beiug remarkably w< 11 screened and the selection ol films is remarkably good. '* Every woman," A VERY REMARKABLE PLAY. The morality play "Everywoman," which has bean so much discussed, drew a fine aniience to the OperaHt use last night in soite of the bad weather and the election. It proved most interesting tu all who followed it closely a-iri the troth of the allagorv. It comprises a whole volume of eermors on life and conduct, and especially life as it alfects women. We have alr-aly given the plat a"d c*st. The titl-> rols is most trying an I Miss Bil !a Spong showed in it the *trecgtn and artistic qualities which woo her so high a plac* in America, and such high appreciation on the present tonr. It was a p j rforuua.ice that not only gripped, but would grow in interest with each visit, anl it is customary for playgoers elsewhere to go several trim's to this plav. Mies Spong deeply imprefseo the audiencp being repeateily "called '. Mr William Desmoud showed himself once more the line artist he is in his interpretation of ti>e seotantiocs Nobody, a genuinely line performance of « role which most pressnt peculiar difficulties. A Vfrv long cast p>ose<'t?d other excellent performers. To recapitulate would be t"> leconrt thu csst, but special mention shoull be maiJe of ihe daintiness cf MitsEnid Bennett's "Modesty." It was Ideal for the pirt. The plav was verv finely and elaborately jro 'ured by Mr Wenman with a wealth of sceoer", and thb orchestra n»!dfr Mr Quintrell won hearty applause from the andience. The company in chatge of Mr Richard Stewart rope to Masterton to-day and later to Wellington.
