A meeting of delegetas of the Board of Control of the Amateur Atliletio Union of Anetralasia was held to-night, Mr R. Oooiubes, of Sydney, President of the Union, was in the chair. Sydney was fixed npon as the headquarters of the Union. Mr Marks, cf Sydney, wes appointed hon. sec. ana Mr Rowley hoc. treasuier.
The question of the amateur states came injfor discussion in connection with a request by the New South Wales Police and Fire Brigades Athletic Spoits Body, that the Onion should allow a combined sports meeting of polios and fire brigades to come within the scope of the rnle providing that at sports meetings beld by the army and navy and volonteer services amateurs may compete with professionals. It was decided that the rnle in question could not be allowed at tho meeting, bnt that the New South Wales A,A.A. be recommended to favourably consider an application by pers in wishing to compete at a meetin?, for reinstatement as amateurs. Ia connection with this matter if; was points out by Pa-kimn, Vio. torn, that unless the rule of exception was revised, now that they had compulsory military training in Anstialasia.the way would be opened for the practical breakdown of the amatenr status.
