The Misses Ohisbolm, daughters of the Rev. James Obisholm, at one time of Palmerston, but now of Duuediu, are spending a week's holiday in Palmerston, ; A quietjwedding was celebrated in Palmerston on Wednesday morning, when Mr Leonard John Madge, of 13, Broad street, was married to Miss Lily Proctor, of Bnnnythorpe. Mr W. H, Herrieß, who is generally regarded as probably the ablest man in the Opposition Parliamentary Party and one of the ablest men in the House, is to speak in Palmerston on political matters this month. Mr David Mok will address his Constituents before session opens. Mr Henry Hayward, founder of the highly suooessful firm of Hayward's Enterprise, Ltd., has booked a passage to England by the 8,8. lonio, leaving Wellington on Jane 15th. He is making ut holiday trip, but will tuvestig'.ti any new ideas whioh have been introduced in l the management of inoviDg picture theatres iu the older oouatries. When his Worship the Mayor was oyoling to his office yesterday afternoon, he came into oollision with a lady oyollet, and reoeived some severe injuries to both his. arms and one leg. The lady aud both bicycles esoaped injury. His injuries, however, did not deter him from presidio? over the Young Men's Social Olub oonversazione last night. At a meeting of the Lower Hutt Borough Council ou Wednesday night the following resolution was oairied: —"That this oonnoil reoords with great sorrow the death of the late Mr B. J. Riddiford, and resolves that a letter be sent to Mrs Riidiford, sincerely sympathising with her and her family in their sad bereavement." Referanoe was made to the deceased gentleman's long association with the distriot and the esteem in whioh he had been held by all.
