AN INSURANCE GATHERING.
PRESENTATION TO A VETERAN MANAGER. At the Olnb Hotel last night a presentation was made by the Wellington district agents of the Alliance Assurnocn Co. to Mr Win. Gill, the retiring Wellington mauasjer. Mr Fred. Mowlem, as the oldest agent of the oompany. alluded to Mr Gills' aotive and conscientious servije whioli had iudnoed a great amount of business in the district. He had great pleasure in presenting an illuminated address (a line piece of workmanship by Olark and Thompson), i oaße of pipes with a tobacco pouoh, and a silver tea and ooifee servioe, and a gold "granny chain" for Mrs Gill.
Oaptain Preece, nn behalf of the Imperial Co., paid a tribute to Mr Gill.
Mr H. Mowlem, for Brophy and Mowlem, acknowledged Mr Gill's oordial relationship as between manager and agent.
MrL..H. B. Wilson, of Wellington, spoke of the genial personality and businesslike methods of the late manager, and hoped that the same pleasant relations would exist with the incoming manager, Mr Sinith. Mr Hansen also, endorsed the re-., marks of the former speakers. Mr Gill replied feelingly. He had had eighteen years of hard and continuous service in the Dominion apart from his work in the Old Country and thought that now he had earned a "spell from harness." and he felt gratoful to know that he had been oousiderefl worthy of such a presentation and the expression of so many good wishes from his agents. Mr and Mrs Gill's health was then drunk with enfchusism. Mr 0. R. Smith, the new Wellington manager.aliio spoke a few words, and to-day will be formally introduced to his agents. The following is the text of the address-
