Tlie Federal Government has consented to mediate in the American firemen's strike.

The Philadelphia strikers have issued a proclamation calling ou all working men in the country to withdraw their deposits from the banks. The strikers have two million sterling banked in Philadelphia alone.

The demand for the oontrol of pro motion was rejected.

POLICE SEEK REFUGE,Received March 1(1; 9.30 p.m. Berlin, Last Night, Eighty per cent of the workman at Krupps' Germauia yard at Kiel have struck for a half holiday and as a protest against the Prnssian Franchise Bill. Many workers in other yards have joined them, and 10,000 men are out. Violent collisions took place with the police, and the latter were hard pressed, and took refuge in shops. Many windows were smashed.

Ten demonstrators and several police were injured.
