Abraham ami Williams, Ltd., repirc us follows:—At our woekly norso sale at falmorstou North ou Saturday, sth iust., we submitted 60 horses of nil ola-ses. There was a very lurge attendance of buyers and t!)0 greater portion of the on try Changed hands, The nino draughts offered on account of Mr P. flnulon, of Ashliurst, were a pood lot and met with a ready sale, at prices ranging from £3O to £3Blos for the heavier sorts and from £2lloa to £26 10s for the medium weights, Light harness' horses ou account of the same vendor realised from £7 to £B, drays £lolos to £i4, Ou aooount of other vendors spring carters from £2O to £24105, harness horses £9 to £ll los, light harness horses and hacks £5 to £B, draught yoarlines £6 15s to £7, LONDON MARKETS. MEAT BETTER. BUTTER FIRM. HEMP DEPRESSED. HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT The High Commissioner's report, dated London, sth March, is as follows: There is a better demand for mutton. Stoobs on hand are light and firmly held in few hands. The average price of Oauterbury mutton is 4&d per lb; North Island 3%d. The lamb market is very firm, and there ia competition to seoure the moderate supplies going forward. Prospiots are rather more encouraging. Canterbury is averaging 5%d per lb, and other New Zealand lamb sd. Tlio beef market Is quiet but firm. Buyers are making forward purchases at present prices. The supply is small but oonstant. New Zealand beef hindquarters, 3j£d per lb, forequarters The butter market is very firm. There is a brisK demand; and buyers are waiting,for supplies The averago prioe of choicest New Zealand butter 1b 123s per owt, Australian and Argentine 121s, Siberiau 118b, and Danish 130s. k The cheetie market is quiet, with a tendency iu favour of buyers. New Zealand finest white cheese is averaging 59b 6d per owt, and coloured 58s ad. The hemp market remainn very depressed. Prices on spot: New Zealand good fair £25 per ton, fair £24, Manila fair ourrent £25. Forward shipments: Good fair £24 15s, fair £23 15s, Manila £24. The Manila output for the week was 19,000 bales.
