The members of the Feildiug Oometly Club, who so successfully produced "Jane" a few w«eks ago, have becu assiduously rehearsing a tliree-aof. comedy "Confusion," which they intend putting before the public iu about three weeks' time, Extensive improvements and alterations are being carried uut iu the premises occupied by Mr A, H. MacLeim and Sutton and Co. When finished the improvements will not only add to the appearance of tlm buildings but greater facilities will be placed at. the disposal of the tenants to display their wares. Mr J. Stobio, who has beeu a resident of Feildiug for tiie past three years, has disposed of his inter-i-hl in the Deiibigh Stables to Mr D. H. Stevens, of Hawora, and a brother of Mi Jehu Stevens, who represented Manawatu electorate for many years. Mr Stobie is to be entertained by his many friends at Hart's rooms ou Friday evening.
An interesting oase will be heard at the local 'Joint on Thursday morning, when a weil-frnown Halcombe character will be Balled tipon to defend a cnarge of allowiug cattle to wander on the roads. Rev. Mr Archer, of Napier, will lecture, undor the auspices of the local brauoh of the Socialist party on "Socialism and Christianity." The local Fire Brigade, which has been under tho control of the Firo Board for over two years, lias decided to ask the Board to furnish the Brigade with a set of rules stilting the duties of the Brigade and the conditions under which they are governed. Ou Monday Mr D. H. Guthrie, M,P., returned to Feildiug from a visit to Rotorua. Mr P. J. Kelly had the misfortune to slip on a inaible slab on Monday night and the fall being rather a severe one, will not allow Mr Kelly to leave his bed for some days. The Druids met last evening. Correspondence was receiveed aud dealt with and routine business transacted. A.D. Bro. Pulling has kindly douated a medal to the member introducing the most new members iuto the Lodge dnriug his term. Members are reminded of the card tournament this evening. If the Druids win. their chances of again annexing the Shield for the next twelve months will bo more rosy, as tlioy will then have a two-point load of the Foresters, who are at present ruuners-up.
