PALMERSTON WEDDING IN WELLINGTON.

AN ELABORATE FUNCTION. SOMETHING ABOUT THE DRESSES. (ByLALAGE.) Special to the Manawatn Times. Wellington, Last Night. The marriage of Miss Ethel Bannister, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs R. E, Bannister, of Palmerston North, with Mrßiohard Liriton, now of Melbourne, was celebratad'flt St. Pater's Churoh, this afternoon The Rev. G. P. Davyß officiated. The bride was given away by her father and wore a beautiful embroidered Brussels net, mounted on a fonndation of white satin, the long court train falling from the shoulders being elaborately trimmed with silver tissue roses and white satin leaves in high relief, the latter bordered with miniature silver braid. The swathed corsage, from which long chenille tassels depended on either side, had a guimpe ot tuoked tulle, and was finished with a knot of orange blossoms.' An embroidered Brussels veil falling over a tiara of orange blossoms, and a shower bouquet were added. Her ornaments inoluded a diamond pendant neoklace, the gift of the bridegroom. She was attended as bridesmaids by the Misses Mabel Bannister and Olive Smith and two tiny girls, the Misses Lorna Chapman and Molly Wright. The elder bridesmaids wore lovely semidireotoire gowns of white ninon with graduated panels of filet laoe lattioed with silver cord terminating in bob tassels of silver tissne. Their large white hats had crowns of soft white marabout swathed with tulle and were finished with tulle swatherie and long white ostrioh plumes starting from a silver bnokle. They carried shower bouquets of orpam roses, cosmeas and lillies veiled with feathery maidenhair, and woro the bridegroom's gifts, a twostoned diamond ring and a pearl and tuiquoise pendant respectively. The little bridesmaids, who wore dainty lingerie frooks and Juliet oaps of latticed silver braid with chiffon rosettes at either side, carried long white' crookß topped with white flowers and streamers, and wore the bridegroom's gifts, pretty gold engraved bangles. The bridegroom was supported by Captain Seddon as best man, and Mr Robert Eliotc as groomsman. The bride's present to the bridegroom was a handsome solitaire diamond ring, A large after-reoeption was held in the oonoert ohamber of the Town Hall and the usual toasts honoured. The Mayor, Hon. T, W,. Hislop, proposed the ohiof toast,, whioh was responded to by tho'bridegroom. Capt. Seddon proposed the brides-, maids, responded to by Mr Robert Elliott 1 Mr Short that of the bride's parentß, to whioh Mr Bannister replied.

A short oonoert programme was contributed by Mrs Woodwaid, Miss Amy Hdye, the Misses Eileen Waj;d and Bandall and Mr Hugh Wright. A string band played in the inter* vals.

The bride's mother was goffned in blaok ohantilly lace handsomely appliqued with black, velvet, and posed on turquoise silk. The bodioe disclosed a vest of soft ohiffon embroidered in pale silks and; was otherwise relieved with a yoke and long cuffs of bady Irish lace. Her large blaok hat was trimmed with blue floral blue ohiue .'silk ribbon with gold lines, and .finished with plumage and she carried a beautiful pink bouquet. Mrs M. Bannister was in tria ohiffon taffetas aud a large ' rose-wreathed hat. Among the guests were Lady Ward and Miss Ward. Later the newly-wedded pair left for, the North.. The bridd's going away dress was a>,diieotoire costume of jgrape ptirle cloth, lined with white brocade, and htr large terry silk hat was swathed with tulle aud finished with clusters of grapes.
