Levin. Yesterday the Town Clerk (Mr P. W. Goldsmith, as Returning Officer), officially declare J Mr R. R. Gardener Mayor of Levin for the ensuing year. The Y M.C.A. literary debating session is to commence oarly in May. The first debate is to deal with the "N.Z. Times" versus the "Dominion." At the farewell dance given by the Tennis Olnb to Mr A. M. Thomson, who is leaving the local branch of the Bank of New Zealand and going to Wellington, a great many members of the Club were present. Towards the end of the evening Mr Burns made a short, but touching speech, bidding Mr Thomson "goodbye," and wishing him all possible good fortune in his new position ; he further stated that he Had met Mr Thomson in fill kinds of sport and never wished to meet a better sportsman. Mr Thomson suitably replied.
