MAGNANIMITY MISCONSTRUED. Received April 24,10.30 p.m. Calcutta, Last Night. More bodies of so-callcd Afghans, numbering several thousands and belonging to the Ringrahari and Shinwari tribes, crossed tho Kabul river and joined the Mohmauds. The Ameer's authority, which is shadowy in relation to them, is not asserted, and the Mullah's influence is growing rapidly. The mobilisation of troops has been ordered. London, Last Night. Renter's Agency reports that the general opinion in Northern India is that the policy of withdrawal pursued in the case of the Zakka Khels is largely responsible for the situation. Some of the frontier tribes imagine that Great Britain is afraid of offending the Ameer. Lord Minto returns to Simla forthwith.
