At the Borough Council last night it was reported that 671 dogs had been registered, bringing in»a total in fees of £190 17s 6d. The first of a series of dances to be held every Friday fortnight by theMelrose Social Glub was held last evening in the Oddfellows' Hall. Cuba Street. Between 40 and SO--couples were in attendance. The success was greatly due to the hon, secretary, Mr A. McDowall. Mr H. Patrick well filled the position as M. C. and as usual Mr A. McMinn played his lively accompaniments. The floor was all that could be desired, and an appreciable supper was provided. Particulars re the next dance will be notified in the Mnnawatu Times.
