OUR DELEGATE TO THE ROYAL SHOW.
The A. and P. Association, in asking its lion, treasurer to represent it at the Royal Show at Sydney at Easter is adopting a policy we have strongly advocated. The Royal Show of New South Wales transcends anything south of the Line. It id one of the world's great shows, and in many respects unique. Now that ours has become a National Show, it behoves us to do all we can to keep ahead of tlie'procession. There is a great deal to be learned in the Sydney ground in the case of the horse accommodation alone, which we will have to provide. The visit of a man like Mr J. M. Johnston, who is most thoroughly familiar with our development and requirements, should prove of the most profitable, for the Royal Show has been making a feature of the horse accommodation for yeafs past, and has now the best in Australasia. Then, a delegate from there might secure the representation of the New South Wales and Queensland Governments in a permanent Agricultural Museum on our Show Ground. They exhibit splendidly at the Royal, and the New South Wales Agricultural Department's exhibit is a show in itself, which would be a revelation here, both in its variety, instructiveness and presentment. It only wants management to ultimately place such a one on our own ground. The way speculators are catered for round the show ring, too, is another feature we might imitate. While Mr Johnston is over the other side, too, should he accept the commission, he might well, as secretary to the Manawatu Racing Olub, investigate the buildings and appointments at Rand wick, which are being brought very much up-to-date, and he could Bee the handling of the bookmakers there— not that we would wish to see them here as there, however.
