SIR WILFRID LAURIER LOVES JAPAN. Press Association— Copyright. Rftceived Jan. 80, 11.52 p.m. Ottawa, Last Night. Mr Bordin's resolution protesting against.the arrangements relating to Japanese immigration, was negatived by a majority of 55. Sir Wilfrid Lanrier declared that he knew Japan did not include in the Japanese Treaty of 1894, a clause restricting immigration. "We are in abetter position," he said, "without such a provision than are the United States with it, beoausp we rely on Japan's good faith." Referring to the value-of the alliance between Great Britain and Japan, he remarked that in the event of war, they might Bee the fleets of Japan and Great Britain united in the North Pacifio againrt a common enemy, and Japan's fleet weighing anchor at Vanoouver for the protection of British interests.
