The English cricket team, playing at Launceston, against Northern Tasmania, have lost three wickets for 218 runs. Hutchings 37, Hobbs not out 96, Hardstaff not out 61, being the chief scorers. A match was played on Saturday morning between a team from Mr J. 0. Williamson's Blue Moon Co. and a Palmerston eleven and was won by the visitors by 18 runs. The former batted first and compiled 129, the last wicket adding some 80 after an easy catch in the slips dropping in the midst of three fieldsmen, none of whom attempted co take it. Kenneth was the principal run-getter for the "mummers," losing his wicket last for a well made 41. Marks 16, Clifton 12, Parks 12, and Sterling 10 also reached double figures, while extras totalled 22. Bartlett 6 for 54 was the most successful trundler for the home side. Palmerston's last wicket fell just on the call of time 1.30 p.m. for 111, or 18 less than the Blue Mooners. Jounnax 20, Greer 18, Pickering 17, Stewart 12, and Wakelin 12 (not out) readied double figures. Sweeney bowled well for the winners, scattering 5 wickets for 24, all the last four batitnen succumbing to him.
