MAURICEYILLE COAL.

AN ENTHUSIASTIC EXPERT,

Per Press Association,

Masterton, December 9.

A coal expert named G. H. Perry, with long experience on the West Coast and in English coal mines, visited the Mauriceville coal deposits on Saturday and considers the prospects highly encouraging. Samples obtained of the best coal , in the new seam at Mauriceville he considers will bo quite equal to Coalbrookdale. He is also satisfied that little difficulty will be experienced in finding the necessary capital to develop the resources, the value of which, the expert declares, have hitherto been greatly under-estimated. The coal hitherto obtained, generally considered of indifferent quality, and practically of little value, the expert alleges, is quite equal, if not superior, to Mokau coal.
