Writing to "Trombone," of the Christchurch Star, frbai Perth, Australia, the secretary of Ui« besses'o' Ui 5 , Bairn '"Bind (Mr William Bogle) says incidentally:— ■■ •' As we are leaving to-day on the P and 0. steamer China for London, we would like throughyour columns to thank all the societies who have entertained us so hospitably throughout Autralasia. As a body of working men musicians we have done our beetfifc please our patrons, and believe we have succeeded. "We have had no part or lot in the arrangements of the local management, our business being to attend at any. place ordered- ani play the programme set before us. Our sympathies all the time have been with the public, who have treated us so well and so generously. We shall go Home and spread the fame of your beautiful colonies; and try to induce our fellow-countrymen : .to come out. to you, visit you, and make homes amongst you. For ourselves, we hope to have the honor and privilege of visiting your hospitable shores again, with an enhanced reputation, as we shall now set to work assiduously to increase our repertoire and add new laurels to our prize list. "We hope when that time comes to find all the local bands much improved. Assiduous and patient practice will insure that end. We would particularly remind all our bretnren of the band world that 'there is plenty of room at the top,' so get there. Good instruments and capable tuition are as great essentials as patient, continual practice. ■ "Any bandsman or musician visiting England will always find a hearty welcome at the Besses o tn Barn Band Club, Moss Lane, Whitefield, Manchester, our headquarters.
