The interim report of the Forestry Commission recommended that the export of ironbark and tallow-wood be prohibited for ton years. The Commissioners lind that the timber resources of the State are not of the magnitude generally supposed, and require to be administered with >he utmost caution. Queensland members strongly opposed the free admission of New Zealand pine, desiring to insist on the exclusive use of Queensland pine for butter boxes. Against this it was pointed out that Queensiaud is importing New Zealand pine for its own butter boxes, and orders placed for Queensland pine a year ago are still unfulfilled.
