A number r of cases of measles still existed The report that sickness had occurred in the school as the result of faulty ventilation was without foundation. The tennis grounds required to be put in proper order.—This was referred to a sub-committee with power to act. INSPECTORS' REPORT. The headmaster enclosed the report of the inspectors which, the chairman said, showed a gratifying state of affairs. In the higher standards, however, arithmetic was weak. The remaining subjects were classed as "good," "fair," and "excellent." Others of the committee expressed the opinion that the report was far from 'satisfactory. Several of the pupils in Standard VI. had failed two years running. Mr Matheson criticised the present system *of examination. He held that the average work done by the pupils during the year should form the standard. GENERAL. Re the breaking-up of the school for holidays, it was decided to spend £2 10s in prizes, 10s to be spent in Christmas cards for the infants. Messrs Jarrett and Drury were appointed the visiting committee for the ensuing month. Re the Wood medal and prize, it was resolved to ask Mr W. T. Wood, M.P., to state the conditions on which these were to be awarded.
