VICTORIA Y. SOUTH AUSTRALIA.
Recieved Dec. 8, 0.25 a. m
Melbourne, December 2,
In the first innings South Australia scored 357. The chief scores were:—Mayne 75, Olaxton 65, Dolling, 62, Pellew 41, Jennings 52, L. Hill 32. Following on, they have lost 1 wicket for 15.
A meeting convened by the Old Boys' Cricket Olub was held last night for the purpose of forming a junior team to enter the association's junior competition. Mr F. J. Oakley presided. It was decided to form a jnnior club to be called The Campbell Street Sohool Junior Cricket Club and to enter a junior team in the competition. The following members were enrolled:—D. Simmonds, B. Janson, J. Nielson, E. Arnott, L. Arnott, F. Tucker, W.. Webb, H. Crawford, J. Parfltt, Jiokell, A. Winton, H. P. Bunn, H. Childs, D. Sexton, D. Satchell, A. Spencer, and Tremaine. Mr D. Simmonds was elected captain and Mr Jickell vice-captain, ana the following were elected to the selection committee: —Messrs D. Simmonds, Jickell and E. Arnott. The annual subscription was fixed at 55., and the colors of the olub are to be amber and black. Practices are to be held each evening during the week on the Sports Ground. The question of purchasing material was held over until definite word is received from theM.C.A. as to whether the association will control Junior cricket.
The following will represent the Albion Cricket Club in their match against the Terrace End team tomorrow:—Kitchen, Wilson, Lyons, Mellor, Mercer, Watohorn (2), Young( 2), Woollett, Oakley. Emergencies, F. Callanan. J. Gallanan. Any of the' above unable to play are requested to let the captain know at once.
On Wednesday the championship matches will continue. The Albions will play Terrace End, and the Drapers play U.r.O.A. The AlbionsTerrace End match will be an interesting one. Although this is the Albions first appearance they are by no means green. I notice some of the veterans are still sticking to the club, such as skipper Wilson, Oakley, Watchora and secretary Young. The Drapers and U.F.G.A. match will also be an interesting one, judging by the scores two weeks ago. The U.F.C.A. team's drawback is they have not a change of bowlers but I am sure skipper Goodsir has something up his sleeve for Wednesday. Trotter was out for a canter yesterday morning and did some useful work with the ball.
There are a few vancanoies in Wednesday cricket for good. men. Umpires are very scarce this year, and clubs would be pleased to hear of any gentlemen who would offer their services.
