The annual meeting of the Rongotea Athletic Sports Club was held on Saturday in the Coronation HalL Mr J. Penny presided over a large audience. The following officers were elected for the year:—Patron, Mr J. Stevens. M.P. ; president, Mr J. Jarvis, J. P.; vice-presidents, Messrs 0. Hopping, P. Lazenby, J. Lumsden, J. Penny, S. Hammond, H. Jarvis, H. James and A. G. Hickford; treasurer, Mr J. Penny; secretary, Mr B. McClymont; auditor, Mr 0. H. Bowater; committee, Messrs J. Persson, J. H. Whistle, E. Batt, H. Ehrhorn, R. Major, S. Paul, F. Landers," H. Jarvis, R. Amesbury, 0. James, W. Davis, F. Turner, W. Foster, H. Ransom, A. H. Borgess, S. Bayliss, S. Rodgers, D. Humphries, J. Amesbury, E. K. Ransom; starter, J. H. Whistler; handicapper, J. Collingwood. The Palmerston Railway hands met a team of Mr H. James' flaxmill hands at cricket on Saturday afternoon. The latter won the toss and elceted to bat. Palmerston won by 7 wickets and 11 runs. Following are the scores.—

The visiting cricketers were enter--1 lined to lunch by Mr James, who showed them over his flaxmill. The Palm&rston men appreciated the hospitality shown them, and cheered their host and opponents.
