The overseer reported that there had been but little subsidence of tlio road at Peep-o'-Day during the month. The small bridge at the foot of Pukerimu Hill should be redecked. The Kawhatau Yalley road was in a bad condition. The holeß should be filled with boulders and broken on the road. The big slip on the Pakihikura road should be planted with willows. It would cost about £30 to repair the road near Mr J. G. Wilson's property, if the latter would help to get the scrub on the ground. About 80 yards of metal was required to repair the Terrace road. A team had been engaged two days in the work of patching the Forest road. The culverts carrying water off Stormy Point Hill should be lengthened to prevent the continual slipping away of the formation.
Tlxe Treasurer reported having received rates amounting to £287 12s 2d and £1 12s 6d from Kimbolton Cemetery Committee. There was a debit balance of £1809 15s 3d at the bank. A report was received from Roadman Summer in regard to heavy cartage on the Mangawliahiraki road, the by-laws having been broken by a carter. —The matter was put in the' hands of the chairman with power to act. GENERAL BUSINESS. The balance sheet, audited, was received and adopted. Or. Hockley 6aid in regard to it„ that it showed the Council had commenced the year with a debit balance of £140 arid finished with a credit of £470 and the interest charge had fallen to £1 7s Bd. The salient point in connection with the balance sheet was that its audit had cost but £8, aud the Council had paid as high as £48, a plain indication that it had been clearly prepared for the auditor by the clerk. The chairman said, for the first time, the balance sheet had been returned without corrections, and in regard to the financial position the Council had now arrived at the one they had been striving to attain thelast five years. Crs. Howie and Smith, of the Pohangina County Council, waited; on the JKiwitea County Council in reference to the erection of a bridge at London's ford. They stated that tli© ohairman of the Pohangina County Council had been unable to attend owing to ill-liealtli. They said they desired to consult the Kiwjftea asto whether the amended plan of the bridge was approved of by Kiwitea County Coucnil. The chairman replied that only a plan had been received but no specifications, therefore the Council had insufficient information to enable it to come to a decision, and in any case the Council would not do so without its Engineer's report on the amended plans. The Council was not antagonistic to the Pohangina County Council and lie thought that it was due entirely to the action of the Pohangina County Council that the matter had been referred to a. commission. It was resolved, that on the return of the Engineer and receipt of all necessary data as to plans and specifications, this Council will be pleased to consider the Pohangina County Council's proposal re erection of bridge at London's ford. That Mr Malcolm be granted permission to erect fences along Oroua Cliff Maip South Road, subject to usual conditions.
