ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
(Per Press Association.) Dunedin, July 15. Mrs William Fenwick, widow of the late editor of the Otago Witness, was found by her niece last night on the floor of her bedroom, life being extinct. Eobert W. Farquhar was accidentally killed at Warepa. It seems that he was playing with a little girl named Elliott and the children had a rope attached to the I top of a very heavy hay sledge which was leaning against the shed. The boy was pulling the rope and apparently overbalanced the pledge, which fell on him killing him instantly. Dabgaville, July 15. Late on Saturday Nelson Ostred, A.8., aged 52, belonging to the barque Helen Denny, walked over the railway wharf and was drowned. Blenheim, July 15. The six-year-old only child of Alexander Hogg, a Flaxbourne settler, who was badly burnd about three weeks ago, died yesterday. Auckland, July 15. Annie Koose, a single woman, aged 27, whose parents reside at Pukekohe, committed suicide at the residence of her uncle, J. T. Stevensoa, Nelson street, by cutting her throat with a raozr. She had been suffering from insomnia. No other cause is known. Wellington. July 15. Christopher Henry Clausen, a sawmiller, got jammed between a large log and a stump at Upper Hutt last Wednesday through a chain breaking during jacking operations. Hβ sustained internal injuries which ended fatally on Saturday. Inveecargill, July 15.
Professor Lichtwark, horse trainer, was found lying in a pool of blood on the North Road at seven this morning with his throat cut in two places. He was removed to the hospital and died three hours later from loss of blood. No weapon was found. It is supposed it is a case of suicide.
A man named James Patterson tried to cross the line as a train .was entering Thornbury station to-day. The engine caught him as he was. mounting the platform and turned him over, causing a dislocated shoulder and a variety of minor bruises.
Mrs Thyne, 71 years, who resided with Mrs Henderson at Myross, was found dead in bed this morning. She retired in good health and spirits last night. A post mortem has been ordered.
