CRICKET.
At tbe meeting of the Cricket Association on Saturday evening, word was received from the N.Z. Cricket Council that as the arrears of subscription owing had been paid, the Association was entitled to be represented on the Coxrancil. Mr T. D. Harinan was appointed delegate for tbe Association^ It was decided that no further cup matches be played before the holidays, but that cup matches be reopened on 13th January.
Old Boys v. Palmerston A.
It was ten minutes past five when tbe Old Boys, one ran to the bad, finished their first innings. The match seemed as good as over, for the rules governing this contest provide that if it be impossible to complete two innings, matches shall be decided on the first. Yet Old Boys won by seven wickets. Palmerston went in and out for 25, and last year's premiers hit up the necessary number for the losa of three wickets. Eight through the ball beat the bat. Palmerston began by losing five wickets for 11, and though Goldspring and Morcombe steadied matters for a time, tbe total reached 49. Ongley and Hill bowled unchanged, the former getting 5 for 10. With seven wicked in hand, the Old Boys required but 19 runs to pass their opponents' total. But Bartlett did the hat trick, and Jack Baker, in a spirit of emulation got 2 for 0, and ft long starohless Bort of tail did practically nothing. ~
Palmerston's second innings was ■ debacle. Four men were debited with rhe product of the domestic duckBartlett was run out when shaping well, and Goldspring, who carried his bat for five, was top score, pill's analysis (5 for 4) explains the collapse. Hill kept » Bplendid length, and came in considerably. The fielding in this innings was vary keen, Fraser and Lyons being very prominent. Scores: —
