PERSONAL.

O. Jenkins has ridden more winners this season than any other two horsemen in the colony. Mr James Laurenson, of Wellington, was married to Barbara, eldest daughter of Mr T. Sinclair, of Pohangina, on Wednesday. The Rev. Beggs officiated. The bride was attended by Miss L. and Mr Sinclair.

At Ashhurst on Tuesday, when Mr J. T. Gardiner, third son of Mrs C. Gardiner, of Stratford, was married to Mary Teresa, oldest daughter of Mr Kerrigan, of Ashhurst, Misses 8., M., and E. Kerrigan acted as bridesmaids, and Mr W. Gardiner as best man. The Eev. Father Tymons performed the ceremony. The honeymoon is being spent at Wanganui.

A wedding which attracted consider* ablo interest was celebrated at St. Paul's Pro-Cathedral. Wellington, on Thurs. day, when Miss Esther de Castro, eldest daughter of Mr F. K. de Castro, of the Education Department, was married to Mr A. J. S. Thomson, of the Bank of New Zealand, Feilding. The Yen. Archdeacon -Fancourt was the officiating clergyman. The bride was attended by four bridesmaids, the Misses de Castro, Hamer, and Curnow, and Mr F. D. Thomson was groomsman. The death is recorded of Mr Alex. Sirupaon, of Makino. Mr Simpson, who had recently completed 50 years' residence in the colony, was one of the pioneer settlers. He was a partner in the firm of Cameron and Simpson, of Turakina, at one time, and a brother of Mr E. K. Simpson, of Bonny Glen.
