PERSONAL.

Mr and Mrs C. Spurdle, of Inglewood, celebrated their golden wedding on Saturday:—Mr Spurdle landed in New Plymouth in 1842, and Mrs Spurdle landed in 1850; they were married in New Plymouth on October Ist, 1854, in the Congregational Church, by the Rev. Mr Groube. They went to live in "Waitara in 1867, remaining there until 1896, when they moved to Inglewood, where they have lived ever since, and where they hope to end their days. Mr Spurdle is now 71 years of age, and Mrs Spurdle 75. They have seven children living, 44 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Mr H. M. Bauchope (of Messrs Bauchope and Webster, New Plymouth) intends leaving in about three weeks on an extended visit to England, going via Suez.

The Jjeilding Athletic Club met last evening in Mr Fisher's rooms (writes our correspondent), and a motion was carried expressing regret at the early death of the late Mr Belfifc. It was also decided that a letter of condolence be sent to the widow. The meeting then adjourned as a tribute of respect.

Mr H. Gaisford, who underwent an operation on his leg in Sir T. Fitzgerald's hospital, Melbourne, has returned home much benefited by the treatment.
