YESTERDAY'S CABLES.
Tho Hon. W. St. J. Brodrick info nued the House that the Indian reinforcements for Thibet would consist of four companies of British infantry, = four companies of native infantry, two ten-pounders of the Boyal Artillery, two mule guns, and mule corps commanded by Colonel Read, of the Fourth Rajpunts. The reinforcements are intended to strengthen the line of communication. The Chinese Government has again renewed its declaration of neutrality. General Andre, French Minister for War, has ordered an .enquiry into the stolen plans of the fortresses at Toulon, Cherbourg, and Brest. A spy named Feagola revealed the thefts to the newspaper Le Matin's correspondent in London. A cable has been received s:ating the Paciiic Cable Conference has arranged for one delegate from each country interested, but the members of the Cable Board will be allowed to be present. The United States Supreme Court upheld the deportation of John Turner, chief organiser of the National Shop Assistants' Union, England, who was arrested in New York last October for delivering a speech to 500 Anarchists He was deported under the Anarchists Deportation Law. The first portion of the service at the late Sir H. M. Stanley's funeral will be performed in the Abbey and the interment at Lirbright. The police relief fund in London benefits to the extent of £32,000 which has been forfeited by the daughter of its founder, the late Henry Whiting, she marrying General Sir Alfred Turner without the consent of both her trustees, one of whom consented. Mr Watson, at a caucus of his party, said it was deemed advisable to take up the Arbitration Bill at the point where Mr Deakin was defeated. A considerable risk would be involved in bringing down a new Bill in exactly the form the party desired. He justified the increase in the military expenditure by £100,000 to provide additional armament and equipment. The work of the present session would include the Capital Site's Bill, High Commissioners Bill, and several minor measures. The caucus deemed the programme satisfactory.
