MISS BELLE NAPIER.
To-Night.
Miss Belle Napier, the clever entertainer, who performs here to-night, has received high praise for her performances in the large centres. She comes to Palmerston from Wellington. Commenting on her appearance on Wednes day night tho New Zealand Times says • —tier operatic performances covered a wide range from the works, amongst others, of Gilbert and Sullivan, Planqaetfce and Offenbach. Her comedy parts included some of the principal of Pinero, Gilbert and Haddon Chambers Diligent study in sonio of the best dramatic schools at Home developed those natural gifts which she is now able to turn to such useful account. Graceful and refined in method, a fine stage presence, to which is wedded a thorough knowledge of the art of elocution, she succeeds in the difficult task of entertaining single-handed an audience for over two hour«. She won the confidence and appreciation of the large audience after the first couple of pieces and thereafter the worn of the artist was easy, for she bad an audience that was thoroughly sympathetic and warm in its reception of the performer's efforts Comedy and tragedy, humour and pathos, were alike treated in finished style, making up a programme that was enjoyed by all. Her repertoire of items was a very choice one, bringing out her talents to the best possible advantage, not the least attractive feature being the excellent incidental music introduced by her, and arranged by the artist herself.
