Last night Mr Arundel Orchard, on the eve of his departure for Sydney, was presented by the Operatic Society with a handsome silver salver as a recognition of his valuable services as conductor and also ac a mark of the esteem in which lie is hejd by the fj^ututy, The ceremony took place at the Empire iiotel in the }i|i<lstof a large gathering of 'members. Mi' H. Pali Hey, President, presided, and in handing the pvot}cnt,iUQn to Mr Orehfml referred in a neat spoocli to the value that gontleman's services hafl been to the society and extended the members' hearty wishes for his future prosperity. The recipient suitably returned thanks.
