THAT PROMISSORY NOTE

An M.H.R. Sued.

(Per Press Association.) Christchurch, Monday, Charles McNicol, of Christchurch, bootmaker, sued Mr H. G. Ell, M.H.R., this morning for .£B4 7s alleged to be clue on a promissory note given about 16 years aSo. It was stated that Ell in November last had offered to pay .£75 if McNicol would explain to the electors the circumstances under which the Bill was given, but McNicol refused. The Magistrate gave judgment for defendant on the grounds that the debt was barred by the Statute of Limitations.
