The Agent-General cables, under date, London, 21st inst. :— The wool sales are proceeding. The present series includes 37,000 bales of New Zealand wool. Competition is very keen. The chief feature of the market is the demand for crossbred wool. Fine crossbred has advanced id, medium crossbred Jd, coarse crossbred -|d. Prices of merino are about the same as last sale or slightly better. CHRISTCHTJRCH, Jan. 21. At Addington to-day 208 fat cattle were yarded, mostly good sorts. The market was slightly easier. Beef brought 26s to 28s per 1001b. Steers £8 7s 6d to £10 17s 6d ; heifers, £5 7s 6d to £9 2s 6d • cows, £5 7s 6d to £9 10s. Fat sheep—4ooo. Exporters reduced their limits, and an irregular sale resulted in a slight decline, especially for wethers. Wethers, 16s to 20s 6d ; best ewes, 15s 6d to 17s ; others, 13s to 15s ; merino wethers, 12s 9d to 14s lOd. i ' Fat lambs—36oo which were sold slightly easier, except for prime freezers, which fetched 13s 6d to 15s sd, others, 10s to 13s. Store sheep — 6691, principally lambs. There was a good sale for all classes. Four-tooth wethers principally North Island, 14s 7d to 15s 2d ; two-tooths, lls 4d ; fourtooth wethers and maiden ewes, 14s 2d ; six-tooth ewes, 16s 3d ; twotooths, 13s lid to 14s 6d ; ewes and lambs, all counted, 7s to 8s ; lambs 9s 5d to lls 6d. Pigs—3oo. Fats were easier, but stores were in strong demand. Baconers, 40s to 555, equal to ild per lb ; porkers, 30s to 38s, equal to 5d per lb ; large stores, 20s to 355; smaller, 15s to 17s ; suckers, 10s to 13s. DUNEDIN, Jan.2l. Wheat—The demand is slack, and sales difficult to make, millers' requirements being small. Prime milling velvet, 5s 3d to 5s 6d ; Tuscan, 5s to 5s 3d ; best fowls' feed 4s 2d to 4s 4d; broken and oiher sorts, 3s 6d to 4s, sacks extra. Oats—A fair demand exists for shipping lines, but sales of low grades are slow. Prime milling 2s 8d to 2s 9d ; best feed 2s 7d to 2s 8d ; medium, 2s 3d to 2s 4d sacks extra. ' Barley—There is some inquiry for good malting and feed sorts. Prime malting, 3s 8d to 3s lOd ; medium 3s 6d ; feed, 3s to 3s 3d, sacks extra.
