RAM FAIR.

A i Messrs Abraham and Williams and' the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Gouipauy, Ltd., report on their (innual Ham Fair as follows : ■- "Wo have feu record the most successful Fair held in this district since their inception. The numbar of rams offered was over 1400, exceeding any previous entry, and was made up by Lincoln?, ■Roinneys, Border Leicesters, English Leic-.'sters, Shropshire Downs, South Downs. Thtir quality was quite up to previous years ; in fact, with the expep tion of a few rntho<r inferior lines, the flock sbtep ollcred weie above the average. Contrary to general expectation, Lincoins proved to be in keen demand, and though the first two lota were passed owing to the majority of buyers not, beinp there, the bidding soon brightened up, and with few exceptions every Hue was disposed of at prices !|uite equal to owners' expectations. In stud Liueolus the honours fell to Mr J. B. Sutton, who realised 20, 18, and loh guineas for three nice rams. In flocks Mr K. McKenzic obtained 13 guineas for one fine sheep, and Messrs Eandolph and Walker's line averaged 5k guineas at auction. In Eomneys the demand was excellent for all good sheep. There was the best attendance we have ever bad on the second day, and it is e.vident that the idea of selling Lincolns and other breeds on different days is approved of by the public and will be adhered to in future. The Leiceater sheep offered, both English andßorder, were of good quality, and both Messrs Slack and Gower are to be congratulated on the excellence of their sheep and the good prices obtained. Mr Slack sod at from 4i to 8 guineas and Mr Gower from 4|to o% guineas. Shropshire and Soutbdowns also met with spirited bidding. Some 6-tooth sheep of the former breed, sold on account of Miß3rs A. and-H.-Russell, making 53 to 5 guineas, and 4-tooth Soothdowns owned by McHardy JBros. making 4 to l'{ guineas.
