ston yesterday have served in tho war, and the public are not aware that they fought as C.l.V.'s. The Ministry tendered a dinner at the Empire Hotel, Wellington, lnst nijjht to toe officers ef the Imperial troops. Amongst those present-was Captain Goldingham, of ihe IVmerston Guards. Snapshots of tho giant of the Imperial force (Private McCullough, Grenadier Guards) holding little Georgie Lett by the hand, were obtained on the showground yesterday by local photographers. The incident created great interest. Captain Scrase-D;cke;s, who was m command of the Imperial force yesterday, was the hero o; that memorab.e incident in the Red boa & few years ago, when ho jumped overboard m a rough sea. and among the shark*, and rescued -a delirious Lascar, who had jumped overboard. Captain Dickens was not only awarded the Koyul Humane Society's medal, but, as the deed of the year, he got the Stanhope Gold Medal also.
