Sluggish River Drainage Board.
The ordinary mseting of the above was held yesterday. Present-Messrs C. Dunk (chairman), Amon, W. Duncan and I. Greenaway. _ Correspondence was received from G G. Toihurst, claiming £290 compensation for injury to his land by water. Rcolved, That the Valuer-General be informed that the Board will have to Btrike a general rate as early as possible after the 31st March to meet claims for work done on the Board's drains. That Mr Buchanan be informed, that be mußt pay the general rate due by him at once. That the Board is not responsible for the compensation claimed by Mr Toihurst. It was reported that Mr J. Hanson's tender had been accepted for claiming out the Bainesse drains and I J. O'Grady's for the Taikorea drain. Offetß from Messrs Donald and Pike to clean out drains on their respective properties were accepted. Wardens Amon and Greenaway and the Engineer were authorised to let contracts for cleaning the main drain.
