Alf. Hayman has transferred his managerial services from the Bush Theatre to the Ba?win at San Francisco. The purchasers of the stranded barque Fusileer have determined to completely empty her. and make an effort to float her off at the earliest convenient spring" tide. Yesterday a. batch of Jack Tars who bad arrived from Wellington . the previous night, proceeded to .the Turakina beach to begin operations. We -understand that thbfe is good prospect of getting tbc barque afloat without any yery heavy expense ; m which, case her present ownt-rs would be able to .con* £ muriate .themselves on having marie a capita] investnujDt. It has been ascertained that the jockey,. McE'wain, who met witb an accident at. the Turakina Races, yester* day, bad three of the leading bones m his right hand broken. The West Coast Times of a recent date contains a leadei on rhe Wanganui cattle trade. We quote as follows from the article: A trade m cattle and sheep with Wanganui having recently sprung up here, it is obvious that if such trade is to continue, and there is every pro bability that it will, the Harbor Board must make some provision to secure the beasts after they %re landed from the Oreti and other vessels now m the tradeThe Board makes a charge of half«a* crown a head for cattle, and three-pence a head for sheep, but they provide no accomodation for the animals. The consequence is that veisels discbarge their live cargoes at all hours, and the upper part of Gibson's Quay is on the«e occasions pervaded by beasts more or less wild. The Times goes on to say that ag importers of goods have wharves and sheds provided at considerable expense, importers of cattle should have a like coasideration shown them. The cost of providing a yard would not be very great, md m a short time the expense would be recouped. It is evident that the landing of cattle at night when there is no accommodation for them is not only injurious to the pockets of importers, and so calculated to put ah end to the trade, but dangerous to the public. The demand for the great American remedy, Hop Bitters, m this part of the world has become so great that the Hop Bitters Co,, whose headquarters are at Rochester, New York, U.S.A., hava been compelled to opeu a laboratory iv Melbourne. It will be m charge of Mr M, H. Van Berg, a gentleman of several years experience with this company and the trade may be assured of receiving goods equal to the parent house, and the most courteous treatment The H, B. Co., have establisments at London, Paris, Antworp, Belgium Breda, Holland and Toronto, and their bitters are probably the best known medicine m. the World. — Advt, Goeged Livbhs.— Bilious conditions, constipation, piles, dyspepsia, headache, cured by " Wells' May Apple Pills." 6d and Is boxes at druggists.
